Workshops on the Wars of the Roses and Richard III
Workshops can be offered for A Level students on any aspects of the Wars of the Roses and Richard III.
I taught the Wars of the Roses for many years at final degree level, having specialised in the period at university.
Outline Content
The workshops use Active Learning and source work to cover any of the following aspects of the period:
- the pattern of events during the Wars of the Roses
- the causes of each phase of the wars
- assessments of the major political figures
- the consequences of the wars for society
- England's relations with other nations
- the motives, attitudes and ideals of the period
- the nature of warfare and of individual battles
During the session students may create living graphs, take part in structured role plays and use different kinds of sources – whatever is needed to help them learn more effectively.
Teachers' Pack
Teachers will be provided with a resource pack which included a handout of any PowerPoint presentations (used as a back-drop for the session) and copies of all the source material.
